A pre-sunrise hike up to Kalapatthar offers the tempting view of sunrise over mighty Everest and other peaks.
Apart from Himalayan views, you will get the opportunity to explore the bustling Namche Bazaar, Khumjung, Tengboche monastery and Pangboche Monastery. At Khumjung, you will observe the scalp of Yeti and at Namche, the luxurious restaurants, hotels and nightclubs will delight you.
How to reach the Everest Base Camp?
The trek to Everest Base Camp commences at Lukla (2,860m) after short and exhilarating flight from Kathmandu. The first day of the trek is relatively short and the trek introduces you with local culture & trail of the region.
As you climb higher through Sherpa village and lush forest, you will reach Namche Bazaar - the largest settlement of the region. You will spend one extra night here to acclimatize your body at thin atmosphere. At Namche, you will explore the bustling town and nearby Khumjung village to experience Sherpa’s culture, lifestyle and beliefs.
Then you will trek gradually to Tengboche which houses the largest monastery of the region. Further you will continue through Pangboche to Dingboche where you will spend second acclimatization day.
After Dingboche, the treeline gives way to alpine scrubs, then rock and ice. Spending a night at Lobuche, you will trek to the highest village of Gorak Shep for Lunch. Following the long-fabled Khumbu glacier through cold and desolate trail, you will finally reach the Base Camp of Everest. Base Camp is nestled on a moraine beneath the dreadful Khumbu Ice fall. After exploration, you will retrace your step back to Gorak Shep for the night.
A pre-dawn (45 min) climb from Gorak Shep takes you to the highest viewpoint - Kalapatthar (5,545m). This majestic viewpoint offers dramatic and upclose view of Everest, the South Col, Nuptse and the lower glacier.
